Checking Your Mailbox Storage (Quota Usage)

Each email account on your hosting plan has a set storage limit (called a quota). This prevents a single mailbox from using all the available space on your server. When your mailbox reaches its quota, new messages can bounce or fail to deliver, so it’s a good idea to check your usage regularly.

Checking Storage in Webmail (Usermin):
1. Log in to Webmail by visiting https://yourdomain.com:20000.
2. After logging in, look near the bottom or sidebar of the inbox view — you’ll see your current mailbox usage (for example, “250 MB of 1 GB used”).
3. You can also hover over or open Mail → Mail Quota in the left-hand menu to view a detailed breakdown.
4. If your quota is nearly full, consider deleting large attachments or older messages you no longer need.
5. Be sure to empty your “Trash” and “Sent” folders to actually free up space.

Checking Quotas in Virtualmin (For Admins):
1. Log in to your Virtualmin dashboard.
2. Select your domain from the drop-down menu at the top-left.
3. Go to Edit Users under the Virtualmin section.
4. You’ll see each email account listed with its current storage usage and quota in the “Mailbox quota” column.
5. To adjust a quota, click the username, enter a new value under Mailbox quota, and click Save.

Tips to Stay Within Your Quota:
• Delete unnecessary attachments or move old emails to local storage in your mail app.
• Set your email client to remove messages from the server after download (POP3 users only).
• Empty “Trash” and “Junk” folders frequently.
• Archive old conversations to another folder or backup location.

What Happens if You Exceed Your Quota:
• New messages sent to your account will be temporarily rejected until space is freed.
• You’ll usually receive a warning email before reaching the limit.
• If this happens often, contact KellerNetwork Support to discuss increasing your mailbox size.
